I am a 1979 graduate of Red Bud High School. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics Education from Berry College. I have the following certifications: early childhood education, special education general curriculum, special education language arts, special education reading, special education math, special education science, and special education social studies.

I began my teaching career at Ashworth Middle School in 1985. I left the teaching profession in 1987, when my first child was born, and I worked part time for several years in order spend more time with my child. During that time, I worked 3 days a week in a local fitness center and taught baton twiring classes on the side. Once my boys were in school I opened a shop in downtown Calhoun specializing in home decorating and gifts. I came back to the teaching profession in 2008, where I taught elementary school for five years, then moved to Ashworth Middle School at the beginning of the 2013-14 school year . I also returned to group fitness instruction in 2012, as a certified Zumba instructor at Fitness First. I became a certified Strong by Zumba instructor in April 2017 as well.

I have been married to my husband, Tim Allen, since May, 1983. We have 2 sons, T.J. and Tucker. T. J. is married to Heather Ignatovich-Allen and they have my only grandchild, Easton. Tucker is married to Hannah Wade. I graduated from Red Bud High and earned my college degree from Berry College. I am, or have been an educator, a twirling instructor, a fitness instructor/ manager of a fitness center, and a business owner. I am currently a certified Zumba Fitness and Strong by Zumba instructor, and I teach classes regularly at Fitness First and Calhoun Spine Care and Wellness. I had the honor of representing Gordon county Schools in Calhoun's Dancing With the Stars in March 2014 with my son Tucker as my dance partner. We were the first mother and son team to compete. We won the Judges Choice Award as the best dance team and helped raise funds for our local United Way and GEM Theatre. I LOVE to dance and you will see me at most of our school dances. I consider it a privilege to work with the students and the wonderful staff here at AMS. Please see my contact information on the syllabus if you ever need to get in touch with me. If I haven't met you yet, I look forward to doing so at some point during the year.
