During its regular monthly meeting on April 9, the Gordon County Board of Education approved all schools in the district to participate in the USDA Provision 2 program as part of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act.  This program will provide every student in the district access to breakfast at no cost to families, regardless of income.  The district meets the criteria put forth by the USDA to participate in the program, and these meals will become available beginning in the 2018-19 school year. Diane Yarbrough, Director of School Nutrition stated, “I am excited that the students in our district will benefit from this important program.  It is our job in school nutrition to see that students are well-fed and prepared to learn, and the increased access to healthy school meals provided by this program plays an integral part in that work.”
