The Wrestling Warriors were in action at the BGMSAA League Traditional Tournament for the final event of the season this weekend. The varsity team finished with 119 points, more than double the amount of points they scored last year, and also surpassed Calhoun's 111 points. Friday night the JV wrestled well with wins from Joseph Hunter, Alycia Revels, and Dakota Jones. Saturday's varsity tournament was filled with spectacular wrestling, emotional matches, and total destruction of a #1 ranked wrestler in the finals. Winning matches on the day and being just one more match win away from placing in the top 4 were Darien Roberts, Zane Firley, Jacob Parker, Patrick Solorio, and Paul Guerrero. Bringing home a 4th place finish in the league were Tyson Temple, Blake Dendy, and Kevin Payne. David Lindsay and Josh Meatyard each brought back 3rd place finishes. The team had Shane Davis and Braxton Caldwell wrestle in the finals for 1st or 2nd. Shane was defending his league championship win from last year against the #1 ranked wrestler in the region. Shane provided total domination during that match, finishing the match in an epic pin to bring home 1st place for the region and now is a 2x Region Champion! Braxton Caldwell wrestled in the finals against a wrestler who just last week it took to the 3rd overtime to beat him by one point in the match. Braxton, who was wrestling very sick, also turned up the heat in his final match and provided a dominate performance with a win of 15-4 to secure his first individual region championship. Braxton was also voted by all the region coaches in attendance the Most Outstanding Upper Weight Wrestler for the tournament.  The wrestling warriors and coaching staff would like to thank you for your continued support during this season.
