Ms. Schwartz's Reach Students Welcome County Commissioner Steward

Ms. Schwartz’s eighth grade Georgia Studies class recently welcomed Chad Steward, Vice Chairman of the Gordon County Board of Commissioners, to their classroom. The class is currently studying about local city and county governments. Steward shared with the class information about how local elections are ran and what the responsibilities of various members of government are in Calhoun and Gordon County. Steward stressed the importance of the citizens’ participation in the government and how the students can become active participants in their community. As a former Gordon County School Board member, Steward was also able to discuss the role that Board plays in the local community and how the two Boards work together to benefit all citizens.
